We are delighted to announce that Ray Mills will join the HSSMI team in January 2021 on a part time basis as Technical Specialist in Manufacturing Strategy. Ray brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from the automotive sector, having worked for over 40 years across major OEMS.

Circular economy is one of the three pillars that underpin the work we do at HSSMI and has naturally led to an initiative to identify our carbon footprint and achieve Net Zero. Our first Net Zero report represents an exciting next step in our journey towards increased sustainability and resilience.

HSSMI and MarinTrust’s project SeaTrace will examine the existing marine by-products supply chain in the UK, identify the data that needs to be recorded and exchanged between various supply chain actors, and work to define a reliable and robust electronic traceability system for that industry.

In the new ReGaIL project, HSSMI will work together with S2S Electronics (lead partner), Envaqua, E.C. Williams, the Institute of Material Finishing (IMF), and Recolight, to develop a recovery process for gallium from bulk sourced end-of-life (EoL) LED products.

HSSMI is continuing its partnership with AMTE Power and exploring opportunities to enhance the UK’s battery cell manufacturing capability. Over the next five months, HSSMI will undertake a feasibility study to explore ways of increasing the productivity of AMTE Power’s existing facility.
