Exploring Future Freight Concepts with TEVVA
/0 Comments/in Uncategorized /by Emily Laver
Facilitating a series of strategic workshops with Tevva to explore what their future transportation concepts could look like.
WHO WAS THE CUSTOMER?
Tevva is a technology company and truck manufacturer. They are best known for creating Britain’s first 7.5t-electric truck. Today, they specialise in producing zero-tailpipe emission Electric Vehicles and long-range Hydrogen Electric vehicles from their factory in Tilbury, UK.
WHAT WAS THE BRIEF?
As Tevva grows their business and scales up the production of their battery electric and hydrogen electric trucks, it is important that they continue to innovate to stay ahead of the competition. With other electric truck companies gathering momentum, and new technologies emerging on the horizon, Tevva have identified that they need to think strategically about where they position their next generation vehicles and business model.
The purpose of this workshop was to pull together the Tevva senior leadership team to explore this topic. The sessions took place across 2 days on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic park in February 2022.
WHY WERE HSSMI BROUGHT IN?
HSSMI are experienced in facilitating action focused workshops with senior personnel. Our consultants regularly operate at the C-suite level, and have a knack for teasing out solutions and actions when faced with uncertain / challenging paths to navigate through. The team also have a deep understanding of the existing product and strategy through the wider work HSSMI has been delivering with Tevva on Manufacturing. Tevva needed a trusted third party to organise and confidently facilitate the sessions which would free the senior team up to contribute to the discussion.
WHAT DID HSSMI DO TO DELIVER THE RESULTS?
HSSMI arranged the meeting to take place away from Tevva HQ, and in an iconic setting
on the Olympic park with the goal to remove distractions and to inspire the team to think big. With a leadership team featuring CEO, COO, Chief Engineer, Head of Research, amongst others, the team worked through a series of exercises on:
-
- Technology, market, environmental, and competitor trend analysis.
- Concept development, brainstorming and lateral thinking.
- Solution evaluation, attribute prioritisation and action planning.
Members from HSSMI’s exec team, David Stewart, Satwik Mehta and Axel Bindel, alongside industry veteran Ray Mills, took turns in facilitating the sessions, in addition to offering expert advice on where we see the future could take Tevva’s next gen products and services.
WHAT WERE THE OUTPUTS?
The approach enabled the team to explore rich scenarios for what the future product and business might look like through embracing divergent thinking, whilst ultimately enabling the team to converge in making decisions on what the most important attributes the future
transportation solution needs to exhibit.
The specific outputs are confidential but were taken forward by the Tevva team as part of the next phase in defining their future.
WHAT IMPACT DID THIS MAKE?
The session ultimately allowed the execs the headspace and time to think critically about where they want to take the Tevva brand and business in the future. This will have been difficult to execute without the support of HSSMI.
“Working with the Tevva executive team over these 2 days was a real pleasure. In exploring future concepts, the team were open and creative, yet grounded and practical. They were highly engaged throughout the sessions and were flexible to changes to the agenda as we adapted the day to answer the most important strategic questions. We are excited to see their continued scale up of their existing vehicle and what might come in the future from this important British brand.”
– David Stewart, Engineering Director at HSSMI and lead facilitator from the sessions.
